Days are cold

And nights are long

And so I sing my summer song

Because the tides of winter

Have me down

Biting winds

And chilling cold

Direct my mind to summers old

When warm sunshine caressed me

To the bone

It takes me

Back to a time

When all we did was play

And nothing

Seemed to matter

Come what may

Those days

Of so long ago

Are distant in my mind

And if I returned

With what I've learned

I'm scared of what I'd find

But still today

I hear the call

Of summers changing into fall

With colors just like fire

All around

Even then

The colors fade

And like all seasons pass away

And wait while winter's blanket

Hides the ground

I know

That under the snow

The summer still remains

And if I try

I'll find that I

Don't miss the summer rains

But days are cold nights are long

I need those days to hang my dreams upon

And that is why I sing this

Summer song
